new guitar strings = good; cuts on finger = not so good; blood on keyboard = definitely not good; getting whipped by the new strings in the face while stringing = can't possibly be good; getting poked in the eye by said strings because i haven't cut off the extras on the end = bad.

so yeah, i brieftly axed my journal. thanks for those who actually got worried and asked me if something happened. i simply just got tired of looking at this thing. i figured there's a better way to let things out than writing about it.
anyway, it's activated for now.

so lately work's been going pretty good - they're letting me do some simple development stuff for semi-automating some of the manual database operations.
so as i was leaving office yesterday, i noticed that a coworker had parked his car quite...crappily, and his passenger door was pretty close to my driver's door. i didn't have trouble getting in, but i found myself thinking "wow, that's some terrible parking." now, i don't really like this guy much - he's sort of the "i'll code whatever i think is right, and we'll toss the product over to the database side so they can fix the bugs" person, and he'll never give you a real answer for anything you ask him. no one on my team really likes him, either. anyway, i digress. so i bumped into him today as i was leaving work, and much to my surprise, he apologized for parking so close to me yesterday. i didn't even think this guy knew whta kind of car i drive, but apparently he does, and he actually made a point to tell me that he didn't know how bad his parking was until he saw it from upstairs. maybe this guy isn't that big of a douche after all.

i love altoid sours. they're great - they keep me awake when i'm driving.
however, the box apparently was not intended to be operated with one hand only.
so now i have cocaine-like altoids citrus sour power all over my sweater and jeans T_T

i've been wanting to write about this for a while - it started off as a simple question from perceptes, when he asked me why i sign my comments. i never really knew why, either - it's just something i do. but it's not that consistent either - i think mostly i sign my comments in non-community posts, where i'm actually replying to someone i know, or someone who knows someone that i know. in a community post (like photography, geeks, etc), i don't really feel the need to blend myself in, since no one really knows me, and i guess that's why i don't really care too much about signing my posts/comments there.
on another note, in response to many people's comments ( jezebe1, and some others) that i respond to new posts almost right after they're posted - not sure how i can explain this, but the most logic thing i can come up with is that since most of you update at night, and i get bored really easily at night...i check my friends page more often than the rest of the day (but i don't hit refresh every 5 secs so i can do the "OMG FIRST POST W00T" thing). i just happen to have really good (or really bad, in a stalker-ish way, i suppose) timing on these things.

so yeah, now you're probably thinking, "wtf is bernard doing quoting the bible?" true, i'm not a religious person...but in a literature-oriented context, the bible sometimes does have some inspiring things to say (kinda like a much better version of chicken soup for the soul, if you will):
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
and, quite appropriately, a quote from Nietzsche - "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
lately things have been crazy - but it's settling down for the better.
and for you religion zealots - no, don't even try to talk to me about "oh, now that you've quoted the bible, do you believe in god?"
that is all.
